Barger Promotes L.A. County Listening Sessions on Homelessness and Affordable Housing 1024 683 Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Input will inform County’s homelessness funding recommendations for FY 2024-25

Throughout the months of October and November, Los Angeles County is hosting a series of community listening sessions to gather input on how homeless services and affordable housing funding should be spent in the upcoming fiscal year 2024-2025.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger – who has been working to restructure homelessness governance in Los Angeles County to create more accountability and tracked outcomes – wants a wide cross section of the public to participate in those sessions.

“The best solutions come from the ground up,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “I want to ensure we have a variety of voices at our County’s homeless services  planning table. That includes hearing directly from residents, people with lived experience, city leaders, and current service providers whose boots are on the ground and know firsthand the challenges that exist and can help us innovate solutions. Community input is critical so that our County’s homelessness planning is balanced and inclusive.”

Los Angeles County Chief Executive Office’s Homeless Initiative is hosting the community input sessions virtually. The following is an abbreviated list of sessions relevant to Supervisor Barger’s Fifth District communities:

  • Wed., October 25 from 3:00 p.m to 4:30 p.m.: Community meeting for Service Planning Area 2 (San Fernando region). Includes the Fifth District communities of Burbank, Glendale, La Canada-Flintridge, and northern San Fernando, among others.
  • Mon., October 30 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.: Community input meeting exclusively in Spanish.
  • Wed., November 8 from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.: Community meeting for Service Planning Area 3 (San Gabriel region). Includes the Fifth District communities of Altadena, Arcadia, Claremont, Duarte, Glendora, Pasadena, San Dimas, San Marino, and Temple City, among others.
