Barger Statement on Hollywood Bowl Keeping Seats Affordable as Part of New 2024 Ticket Schedule 1024 576 Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Supervisor Kathryn Barger issued the following statement today in response to the new 2024 ticket prices presented to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for approval by leaders from the County’s Department of Parks and Recreation and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association:

“I’m very pleased to hear that the Hollywood Bowl, which I’m proud to have in the Fifth District, will remain affordable and accessible to families and residents in our County. One dollar seats will still be offered and the quantity of one dollar seats will be increased this year. Our L.A. County residents are feeling a financial crunch on many fronts, so keeping the Hollywood Bowl affordable is very important. We are doing right by the community by keeping this historic entertainment venue accessible with 40% of all tickets $37 or less.”

During today’s Public Hearing on the 2024 Hollywood Bowl Season Ticket Price Schedule, the director of Los Angeles County’s Department of Parks and Recreation, Norma Garcia-Gonzalez, further clarified that price increases will only impact the most expensive seating areas.

In response to Supervisor Barger’s question regarding how many free tickets are distributed annually, the Department of Parks and Recreation said they offered 1,000 free tickets to seniors and teenagers. Additionally, Los Angeles Philharmonic Association’s Director of Government and Community Engagement, Carlos Singer, replied that more than 70,000 free tickets were given away this year.
