LOS ANGELES COUNTY – The Board of Supervisors has approved a motion by Supervisor Kathryn Barger directing the County Librarian to explore innovative ways to increase patronage and revenue at public libraries, including partnerships with food service retailers.

“A public library is an essential element of any community,” said Supervisor Barger. “This effort will help us identify new ways to improve the library experience, raise revenue, and attract new patrons with available coffee drinks or food for sale on site.”

The motion includes a report back to the Board in 90 days with an analysis including research on other public library systems or locations that have successfully established food service partnerships.
