L.A. County and City of La Verne Partner Up, Offer $20K Reward in Family-Owned Jewelry Store Robbery Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Today, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion by Supervisor Kathryn Barger that will provide a $10,000 reward in County funds, matching a $10,000 reward authorized by the La Verne City Council, to solve a jewelry store robbery that took place last month.

On July 1, 2023, La Verne police officers responded to Rodeo Jewelers – a family-owned small business located at 1560 Foothill Boulevard. A robbery had taken place at approximately 12:16 p.m. that day, in plain daylight, when a white four-door sedan was driven through the glass storefront of the store.

According to the La Verne Police Department, four male suspects entered the store, shattered display cases, and loaded trash cans with jewelry. During the robbery, one employee was assaulted. The suspects fled the scene with the stolen jewelry using a secondary getaway vehicle described as a black sedan.

“This family-owned business was hit hard and deserves our support,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “I am hopeful this reward will encourage anyone with information to reach out so we can put a stop to individuals engaging in criminal behavior and hold them accountable.”

“La Verne is a safe and family focused community that supports our businesses,” stated Mayor Tim Hepburn.  “I look forward to more tips generated by this reward to help our detectives crack this case and bring these criminals to justice. A total of $20,000 is now being offered for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the suspects involved in the robbery.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the La Verne Police Department Detective Bureau at (909) 457-6541 or detectives@lvpd.org. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at www.lacrimestoppers.org
