Barger Issues Statement on Launch of Inaugural Executive Committee for Regional Homeless Alignment 1024 683 Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Supervisor Kathryn Barger issued the following statement today in anticipation of the first convening of the Executive Committee for Regional Homeless Alignment – a powerful group of local leaders that will meet today at 2:00 p.m. at The California Endowment:

“Today is an important day in Los Angeles County’s fight against homelessness. Our expansive region has notably lacked a formal forum where key decision-makers from multiple levels of government can convene, craft unified homelessness response policies, and cultivate shared plans for allocating resources. The Executive Committee will be our forum where these important conversations happen, transparently and with shared accountability. I look forward to sitting shoulder to shoulder with fellow leaders to coordinate a shared approach to combating homelessness.”

The formation of the Executive Committee was one of the seven recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Homelessness–a group of subject matter experts that extensively and urgently evaluated Los Angeles County’s approach to homelessness governance due to a motion co-authored by Supervisor Barger.

Supervisor Barger is one of eight Executive Committee members. Other Committee members include:

  • Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Lindsey P. Horvath;
  • City of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass;
  • City of Monrovia Mayor Becky A. Shevlin (representing the San Gabriel Valley Sector);
  • Palmdale Councilmember Richard Loa (representing the North County/San Fernando Valley Sector);
  • Lakewood Mayor Ariel Pe (representing the Southeast Sector);
  • Redondo Beach Councilmember Paige Kaluderovic (representing the Southwest Sector); and
  • California Governor appointee Hafsa Kaka.

The meeting will occur at 2:00 p.m. at The California Endowment, located at 1000 N. Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012, and will also be broadcast virtually. Click on the agenda for viewing instructions.
