50,000 square foot facility will provide a holistic suite of wellness, clinical, and mental health services
Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion co-authored by Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger and Third District Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath to award a contract for approximately $74.9M to a competitively selected construction company to design and build an expansive, state-of-the-art health center in the North Hollywood community.
The construction site, located at 5300 West Tujunga Boulevard, is currently occupied by a single-story building that will soon be demolished. In its place, a new approximately 50,000 square foot three-story health center will be erected. The facility will have an adjacent parking lot and will include a full suite of examination rooms and laboratories to meet the medical and mental health needs of the community. The health center will also include outdoor community gardens, a wellness center, a medical legal department and more.
“I’m pleased that we are moving the construction of this North Hollywood Health Center along,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “I’ve committed my career to advocating and tending to the health needs and overall well-being of the constituents I represent. This project will deliver critical services. I will continue being vigilant to make sure this construction project comes in on time and on budget.”
Supervisor Horvath also weighed in. “The North Hollywood Health Center charts a new direction for integrated service delivery in LA County, bringing essential physical and mental healthcare and social services under one roof,” said Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath. “It’s exciting to see this new model for patient-centered care move forward to bring the services of the County to the San Fernando Valley in a more holistic way.”
