Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger issued the following statement regarding today’s Juneteenth holiday:
“Celebrating Juneteenth today is a meaningful way to recognize the important role African Americans have played in the history of our country and their resilient spirit. I stand alongside community members who honor those who have fought for and promoted our values of freedom, civil rights, and equality for all. Los Angeles County has a rich Black history with vast impacts to our state. It is important to recognize these contributions.”
