Supervisor Kathryn Barger issued the following statement reacting to the Los Angeles Superior Court’s hearing today on whether Sexually Violent Predator Christopher Hubbart will be housed in the rural community of Juniper Hills in the Antelope Valley:
“I remain hopeful that the Court’s careful and thorough evaluation of this decision will result in Hubbart not being placed in our northern desert communities. Juniper Hills and the Antelope Valley at large are home to many women and families who work hard and want to enjoy peaceful lives. They deserve our wholehearted support.
I will continue to closely track the outcome of Hubbart’s placement process. This known predator committed heinous crimes that I believe are beyond redemption or rehabilitation. His age should not be a factor that influences his eligibility for release. The focus should be on the nature of his crimes and the threat of him committing more. Make no mistake–Christopher Hubbart belongs in a secure and locked facility where there is zero threat of him being able to harm anyone ever again.”
