Supervisor Kathryn Barger issued the following statement today regarding the two deadly vehicular accidents that occurred within hours of each other on SR-138, also known as Pearblossom Highway, in the Antelope Valley:

“This loss of life is tragic. My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of the six individuals who lost their lives on Pearblossom Highway.

Too often, our rural highways are the scenes of deadly accidents. CalTrans and partner agencies have invested heavily in making needed improvements to this corridor but there are still concerns. I commend community residents’ call for additional safety improvements. I stand ready to support our state partners’ efforts to prioritize those improvements.”
