“Issues of domestic violence should not be taken lightly and we owe all victims who experience this trauma to feel comfortable to come forward and report it to law enforcement, including those who are in law enforcement themselves. I appreciated my colleagues’ support and thoughtful remarks as well as Sheriff Villanueva for attending the board meeting to address us on this important issue. Together, we should allow the full facts to speak for themselves, which is why I look forward to seeing the complete personnel file of the deputy in question.
