LOS ANGELES COUNTY – The Board of Supervisors has approved an $188,000 allocation to the San Gabriel Valley Conservation Corps for the Alhambra Tree Planting Project, announced Supervisor Kathryn Barger.

Funded with Proposition A funds from Supervisor Barger’s office, the project will involve site preparation as well as the purchase, installation, and establishment of trees on the Alhambra Unified School District campuses and other locations in the city of Alhambra.

“I am pleased to support this vital project to beautify and enhance green spaces and natural resources for our residents in the City of Alhambra,” said Supervisor Barger.

“Supervisor Barger and the Board of Supervisors continues its investment in our communities by providing one of our most valued elements in our parks: trees,” said John Wicker, County Parks and Recreation Director.  “The Alhambra Tree Planting Project is a clear example of the mission of the Supervisors and the Department of Parks and Recreation to serve as stewards of parklands.”

Since the approval of the Neighborhood Parks Proposition of 1996, the Board has directed projects that foster resilient communities.
