County Convenes Measure B Advisory Body to Ensure Effective Reinvestment of Unallocated Funds 336 336 Supervisor Kathryn Barger

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the development of a Measure B Advisory Body to be tasked with ensuring that Measure B trauma funds are being disbursed to best serve our County residents, based on the April 18, 2017 motion by Supervisors Kathryn Barger and Janice Hahn.

“Upon the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which acted as a new funding source to treat the trauma needs of the uninsured, the number of uninsured trauma patients utilizing Measure B funds decreased significantly,” said Supervisor Barger.  “The implementation of the Measure B Advisory Body will ensure that the unallocated Measure B funds are being reinvested into the trauma hospitals with the greatest need.”

Members of the body will include representatives from the Los Angeles County Chief Executive Office, Auditor-Controller, the Fire Department and the Departments of Health Services and Public Health.  In addition, the body will include external stakeholders including a surgeon practicing at a trauma hospital in the County as appointed by the Southern California chapter of the American College of Surgeons, representatives from the Emergency Medical Services Commission and a representative of non-County trauma hospitals appointed by the Hospital Association of Southern California.
