“Today’s action by the Board of Supervisors ensures the County provides veterans with a specialized level of health care coordination, recognizing their unique needs and vulnerabilities. As the Board looks to better integrate the work of our Departments of Health Services, Mental Health and Public Health, we must keep veterans at the top of our minds. Even with federal and state resources, the county safety net is crucial to assist those who are ineligible for care through the VA and those who have limited access to local services and resources.

“Often, veterans can fall through the cracks in many different systems at the federal and local level. Today’s Board action is an invaluable opportunity to reinvent how we do business to best serve some of our most vulnerable constituents.”
