Barger Spotlights Opportunity for Community Input on L.A. County Homelessness Spending 1024 1024 Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Tomorrow, Los Angeles County will host a virtual meeting to gather input from residents and stakeholders from the Antelope Valley on how homelessness funding should be spent in the upcoming 2025-2026 fiscal year.

The proposed spending plan will fund a coordinated system of programs that receive Measure H monies, a quarter-cent sales tax approved by County voters in 2017, as well as Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention grants from the State of California.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who has been working to restructure homelessness governance in Los Angeles County to improve both accountability and outcomes, welcomes and encourages widespread public participation.

“The best solutions come from the ground up,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “I want to ensure we have a variety of voices at our County’s planning table. That includes hearing directly from residents, people with lived experience, city leaders, and current service providers whose boots are on the ground. These voices know firsthand the challenges that exist and can help us innovate solutions. Community input is critical so that Los Angeles County’s homelessness planning is balanced and inclusive.”

The community input session will take place on Wednesday, August 21, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. via Zoom. A link to register is available here. Click here to view a flyer with more information.

Anyone who cannot attend tomorrow’s meeting but would like to provide input can visit homeless.lacounty.gov.

Additional meetings targeting more communities throughout Los Angeles County will take place during the months of August, September, and October 2024. Click here to view a schedule of meetings and for more information.
