Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion introduced by Supervisor Kathryn Barger to proclaim September 11, 2025, as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance in Los Angeles County.

Supervisor Barger’s motion also directs all County departments to fly the U.S. and County flags at half-staff on that day to honor the thousands of innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

“The tragedy of September 11th will remain forever engraved in our hearts and minds,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “That terrible day is a solemn reminder of the fragility of life, the courage of first responders, and the resilience of our country. As we mark 9/11’s 24th anniversary, I urge everyone in Los Angeles County to reflect on the lives lost and honor their memory by engaging in acts of service that strengthen our communities.”

Supervisor Barger will join residents and first responders at a remembrance event she is co-hosting with the Antelope Valley 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Governance Board to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the attacks.

The ceremony will honor local law enforcement officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty. It will take place on Thursday, September 11, at 9:00 a.m. at the Antelope Valley Mall’s main entrance, located at 1233 West Rancho Vista Blvd., Palmdale, CA 93551. Click here for more information.
