During tomorrow’s Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ meeting, Supervisor Kathryn Barger will honor two Antelope Valley high school girls’ teams that aimed high, played hard, and are now California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) champions for Southern California.

The Antelopes—Antelope Valley High School’s girls basketball team—won the CIF Southern Section Division 5A Championship last month. This is the second CIF title for the Lady ‘Lopes in basketball. The Royals—Quartz Hill High School’s girls soccer team—won the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Championship, their first CIF title.

A special video of Supervisor Barger applauding both teams’ achievements will be shown prior to the start of the official L.A. County Board of Supervisors meeting at 9:30 a.m. and will again be shown at the end of the meeting. Supervisor Barger is planning a special visit to meet with the youth at their schools in the coming weeks.

“Both The Antelopes and The Royals have a lot of heart,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “These youth have demonstrated a commitment to excellence, to not giving up, and to remaining focused. I am so proud of them and their hard earned success. This is a modest way to recognize a big accomplishment, but I want to share my congratulatory message with both teams who have placed the Antelope Valley on the CIF map. Hard work does not go unnoticed.”

The talent of these Antelope Valley High School girls’ teams is a timely recognition taking place during Women’s History Month, a tradition that highlights the achievements of women.
