Barger Honors Memory of Beloved Porto’s Bakery Founder Raul Porto, Sr. 739 516 Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Today, Supervisor Kathryn Barger adjourned the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ meeting in memory of the legendary co-founder of Porto’s Bakery and Cafe, Raul Porto, Sr.

Raul passed away at the age of 92 on May 22, 2024. He is survived by his children, Raul Jr., Beatriz, and Margarita.

“Together, Raul and his wife Rosa built a flourishing business that has become a beloved fixture in so many communities,” Supervisor Kathryn Barger stated. “His unwavering work ethic, humility, and dedication remain guiding principles at Porto’s as his children continue to run the business. Raul’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved, worked with, and inspired.”

The original Porto’s Bakery opened in 1976 in Echo Park. It relocated in 1982 to Glendale, where it has become a renowned asset in the community.

All Supervisors asked to join in the adjournment after Supervisor Barger finished her comments.
