Supervisor Barger Adjourns Board Meeting in Memory of Indigent Veterans Buried by County 782 575 Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Upon learning that the County of Los Angeles has taken on the solemn task of laying indigent veterans to rest at one of our national cemeteries, Supervisor Kathryn Barger has begun the monthly practice of adjourning the Board of Supervisors meeting in memory of those would have otherwise been forgotten.

“While it is our ultimate goal to never have a veteran end their days in an indigent state, without a family or community to mourn their passing, the sad reality is that currently is the case for some of our veterans,” Supervisor Barger said.  “These men and women may have left this earth with few resources, but in their life they served with honor and deserve a dignified burial among their military brothers and sisters.”

In adjourning the meeting, Supervisor Barger will read the names of the veterans who have passed and their branch of service into the record for all to take pause to thank them for the sacrifices they made so that we could live in freedom.
