Public Safety & Justice

Keeping our communities safe and providing equal justice for all

Keeping our neighborhoods safe is Supervisor Barger’s top priority. She values partnerships with her public safety agencies across the Fifth District who protect communities. Supervisor Barger also works to ensure law enforcement and public safety officials receive support and resources for the vital work they do.

To combat smash-and-grab crime waves during previous holiday shopping seasons, Supervisor Barger allocated $1 million to increase law enforcement services in her district’s unincorporated areas. Officials from the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs thanked Supervisor Barger for her swift response and support.

Supervisor Barger supports the rehabilitation of inmates and justice involved individuals and believes mental health services are essential. She has voted to close down Men’s Central Jail and supports the creation of a secure alternative site where inmates can receive holistic therapeutic and clinical services.
