Oath of Office Ceremony

Oath of Office Ceremony 1024 819 Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Dear Friends,

I appreciate the great welcome that I have received from the residents of the Fifth District, my colleagues and many others who have expressed their best wishes and congratulations on taking the oath of office as Los Angeles County Supervisor.

From the inauguration on Monday and a very important Board meeting Tuesday, it’s been a momentous week! As you know, for the past 15 years, I have served as Chief Deputy for Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. I started in Mike’s office as an intern while in college, served as his Health and Public Social Services Policy Deputy, and became his Chief Deputy in 2001. I learned a lot from Mike. However, one thing I will never forget is that our constituents are our top priority — they are our special interests, and their needs come first.

Our county is great — it also has great challenges. It is incumbent upon us all to search for out-of-the-box and creative solutions to problems while protecting our fiscal solvency. While we all may have differences in opinion on certain issues from time to time, we should always focus on what binds us – our mutual effort to serve the people of Los Angeles County.

Thank you for the warm welcome and I look forward to working with you.

KATHRYN BARGER
Los Angeles County Supervisor
